United have been searching for a permanent manager since sacking Ole Gunnar Solskjaer in November. Solskjaer was replaced on an interim basis by Ralf Rangnick.

Rangnick has won 8 of his 18 games in charge in all competitions, with just 3 defeats. However, the 4-1 loss to City in Sunday’s Manchester Derby didn’t go too well with critics. This was a dismal performance for United and they face an uphill fight to salvage their season.

Rangnick is scheduled to hand over the reins to a new manager in the summer before taking on a consultancy role at Old Trafford.

Mauricio Pochettino, PSG manager, is one of the favourites to succeed Ole Gunnar Solskjær as permanent manager at Manchester United. ManU have said an interim will be appointed until the close season.

Pochettino has never won a league title in a 12-year, four-club career. He has won only the Coupe de France and the country’s equivalent of the Community Shield.

However, Pochettino has given United an early insight into how he will approach the task at Old Trafford, during an interview with Rio Ferdinand for BT Sport’s Between the Lines series.

Reflecting on his success at Tottenham, Pochettino was asked about the approach to going into a new club and revealed that he would look to build around the “culture” of his new club.

“For me when you arrive at a new club it’s about agreeing things and trying to decide the best strategy to arrive where you want, but always building knowing the culture of the club, knowing how the fans love football, the history of the club, all this is really important,” he said.

“It’s important to translate your ideas and stick with your ideas and to try to implement your ideas, but as a coaching staff we arrive at a club like Tottenham respecting always the history of the club, respecting the tastes of the fans and the culture.”

“That for me is the most important thing to start to build what you want. After you can change small things to feel you are part of the history and philosophy, but for me, the most important thing is to design a philosophy together when you arrive rather than trying to arrive and change everything and saying this is the main idea and if you don’t stick with this it’s impossible to win.”

Ajax boss Erik ten Hag has been “sounded out” through intermediaries by Man Utd as they continue their search for a new manager. It is understood the 52-year-old would be keen to speak to United should they make a formal approach.

Manchester United can replace Ralf Rangnick with one of Mauricio Pochettino and Erik Ten Hag, while they may have to spend big to sign Benfica striker Darwin Nunez. Elsewhere, Leeds United are looking at three candidates to replace Marcelo Bielsa, and Newcastle United could miss out on Sven Botman.

Mauricio Pochettino

He is currently the favourite to take the helm at Old Trafford this summer, an opinion that was fortified by recent comments he made that his current charges, PSG, did not have adequate competition in the French league. Managing Man Utd would certainly be an altogether different challenge for the Argentine, who knows all about tough Premier League gigs, having once brought Spurs to the brink of Champions League glory.

Brendan Rodgers

Ever since Sir Alex left the Man Utd top job, there has been a weird expectation that the club must go about finding the next great Scottish manager. They already tried this with the Glaswegian, David Moyes, but now they may be tempted to try a different tack, and so perhaps Northern Irishman Brendan Rodgers is the right man for the job.

He continues to make miracles happen at Leicester City, who keep punching well above their weight on a weekly basis. He is a proven Premier League operator, but fans might worry that he doesn’t have the clout to bring in the sport’s biggest names. The fact he also previously managed Liverpool will not be lost on many diehard Man Utd fans.

The person who is going to be the next manchester united manager has been a major concern for manchester united and their fans.
In my opinion,current chelsea boss tomal tuchel is the favourite man for the job and i think man united should sieze the opportunity for what’s going on at the club now to lure the german to man utd.
Tuchel has made a lot of progress since joining chelsea having won champions league,super cup and club world cup respectively.
If there is any other man right for man utd at these hour it should be tomas tuchel.

Brendan Rodgers

Leicester City boss, Brendan Rodgers, has reportedly dropped a huge hint that he could be set to take over Manchester United after the Northern Irishman bought a house in Wilmslow - just 13 miles away from Old Trafford.

United have built a star-studded squad and were expected to win the Premier League title. But following a strong start, the wheels soon fell off at Old Trafford and the team quickly dropped down the table.

Last autumn, the Red Devils went through a rough patch, during which they lost five out of seven Premier League matches. After this, Ole Gunnar got sacked and the 13-times PL champions appointed former RB Leipzig manager Ralf Rangnick as their interim boss until the end of the season.

But even under the German, United have been inconsistent and are struggling to secure a top-four finish after they failed to defeat Burnley and Southampton in the last week.

Paris Saint-Germain boss Mauricio Pochettino is the current favourite take job at Old Trafford on a permanent basis while Ajax manager Erik ten Hag has also been linked with the role. But it is possible that United could turn to Rodgers, who almost steered Liverpool to the Premier League title in 2014.

Here is my take on the possible next Man Utd manager.

Mauricio Pochettino: :-1:

Not impressed with Pochettino’s stint at PSG despite having the best of the world players- Messi, Mbappe, Neymar, Ramos, Di Maria, Donnarumma, Navas. What more do you want to be the invincible team in Europe? :pleading_face:

Pochettino has two Ligue 1 trophies so far (last season lost the Ligue 1 title to Lille) but has the lowest win rate among his peers contesting for the Man Utd position.

Pochettino’s Overall Record:

Clubs: Espanyol, Southampton, Tottenham, PSG

Points per game: 1.67
Win rate: 48.6%
Loss rate: 29.9%

Goals per game: 1.69
Goals against per game: 1.17

Following yet another Champions League collapse this season at the hands of Real Madrid, the Ligue 1 title is the only saving grace for Mauricio Pochettino now.

Ajax boss Erik ten Hag: :+1:

Ten Hag, who joined Ajax in 2017, has enjoyed a successful stint at the club, having won five trophies there including two league titles.

Ten Hag is known for his attack-minded style of football, leading Ajax on a dream run to the semi-finals of the Champions League in 2018-19, where they dramatically lost against Spurs.

The Dutch club had won all their group games this UCL season, however Benfica pulled off a surprise 1-0 win at the Johan Cruyff Arena to end Ajax’s impressive UEFA Champions League run.

This season, Ajax stand atop the Eredivisie table having won the title for the past 4 years.

Underpinning Ten Hag’s philosophy is a desire to press aggressively and win the ball back quickly. The role of the defensive midfielder is key to his system in helping to shield the back four.

In his own words, Ten Hag says success is less to do with formation, and more to do with basic principles. He told DutchSoccerSite: “It’s not even about systems. It’s about what you do in possession, when you lose possession and in those turn around moments. And you need to be able to change that up.”

He added: “The players’ qualities determine how you play.”

He also has a relentless desire to win, again and again. Ten Hag explained: “Good ain’t good enough. We need to get better. Push boundaries.

Thomas Tuchel: :+1:

Tuchel departed PSG with a record of 95 wins, 13 draws, and 19 defeats in 127 games, with the best win percentage in Ligue 1 history (75.6%) and the highest average of points per game (2.37, tied with his predecessor Emery). I never understood his sacking at PSG, probably conflicts with management played a role.

There are few of them in world football who can compete with Jurgen Klopp and Pep Guardiola, whether it’s in this league or the Champions League and Thomas Tuchel is one of them.

With the current uncertain times at Chelsea there are speculations about the prospects of the current team. However, I think Tuchel’s story at Chelsea is still incomplete. He is the perfect fit for Chelsea in my opinion, can take the club to even greater heights and establish his legacy at Stamford Bridge.

My other pick would be Luis Enrique :+1:

Messi described Luis Enrique as one the two best managers he has played for, the other being Guardiola. While Guardiola maintains that though he has played against many great footballing sides as a manager, Luis Enrique’s Barcelona and Jürgen Klopp’s Liverpool were the best he has ever faced.

It is understood that United are a big admirer of Luis Enrique, but he might not be willing to leave the Spain job before the World Cup in November.

Van Persie & Ferdinand keen on Man Utd assistant manager job under Ten Hag

Manchester United icons Robin van Persie and Rio Ferdinand have put their names ahead for the post of assistant manager under Erik ten Hag, according to Stretty News.

According to the aforementioned source, the Red Devils are close to confirming the appointment of Ajax manager Erik ten Hag ahead of the 2022-23 season. The Dutchman is expected to become the new permanent manager and will take over from current interim boss Ralf Rangnick.

Earlier I had quoted Ten Hag’s philosophy and playing style.
Previous Man Utd managers choices haven’t obviously brought about the desired results.
Based on Ten Hag’s past overall record, his philosophy seems to be working. Then why not give him a chance to prove?
