Great to see Indian players nominated in all formats. Mithali Raj is the only Indian nomination in 2 womenâs categories. It would be great to see other Indian women players - Smriti Mandhana, Harmanpreet Kaur, Shafali Verma get nomination next time around.
My vote goes to:
Player of the Decade - Virat Kohli
Test - Steve Smith
ODI - Rohit Sharma
T20I - Rashid Khan / Gayle / ?
Spirit of Cricket Award - Kane Williamson
Womenâs Player of the Decade - Mithali Raj
My votes-
ICC Menâs Player of the Decade- Ab De Villers
ICC Mneâs Test Player of the Decade- James Anderson
ICC Menâs ODI Player of the Decade- MS Dhoni
ICC Menâs T20 Player of the Decade- Chris Gayle
ICC Spirit of Cricket Award- Virat Kohli
IC Womenâs player of the Decade- Mithali Raj
Really?
Not Kane Williamson? Or Dhoni?
I think Kane Williamson personifies âSpirit of Cricketâ in true sense and deserves the award the most. Williamsonâs calm and sportsmanship after World Cup final had won hearts around the world. The manner in which he conducted himself after finishing as runners-up in the 2019 World Cup final was brilliant.
During the press conference at the Lordâs, it was admirable to listen to him answering questions on the strange rule that deprived his team of the worldâs most coveted trophy. It was one of the finest displays of the âspirit of the gameâ from a losing captain and was even lauded by all journalists with a standing ovation.
I see this sporting spirit displayed not just in the World Cup but in all his matches.
Next choice in line would be MS Dhoni.
This man dominated test Bowling for 5 consecutive years in the decade but ICC didnât nominate him. This man deserves to be in the list. Feeling sad for himđ

S. Sreesanthâs ban from cricket ended in September this year. He is set to play in the Presidentâs Cup T20 Tournament, which begins from December 17.
Sreesanth has been picked in the KCA Tigers team to be captained by state team skipper Sachin Baby in the tournament. The teams participating in the tournament are KCA Royals, KCA Tigers, KCA Tuskers, KCA Eagles, KCA Panthers and KCA Lions.
Sreesanth was initially banned by the BCCI for lifetime in August 2013 for his participation in alleged spot-fixing in the Indian Premier League (IPL), along with Rajasthan Royals (RR) teammates Ajit Chandila and Ankeet Chavan. His ban was reduced to seven years last year, and it ended in September this year.
Sreesanth made his India debut in 2005 against Sri Lanka in an ODI. He also won the 2011 ODI World Cup with India, and the 2007 T20 World Cup.
Good luck to Sreesanth!
Although spot-fixing was a heinous act, I think 7 years ban was a good time to reflect upon and set oneself up to better standards and purpose in lifeâŚfollow oneâs passion. Hope to see the new better side of him & hope he lives up to the renewed hopes of fans and not let them down.
