Al-Rayyan are one of the biggest clubs in Qatar and finished third in the 2020-21 season of the country’s top division which is named Qatar Stars League. They finished behind Al Sadd, coached by Xavi Hernandez, and Al Duhail.
The team is coached by former France national team and PSG manager Laurent Blanc. They qualified by finishing the 2019-20 Qatar League as runners up.
Ivorial striker Yohan Boli is Al Rayyan’s top scorer this season with 11 league goals - only four players including former Arsenal man Santi Cazorla has scored more goals in the Qatar top division.
Al-Rayyan will be without Franck Kom and Ahmed El Sayed for Monday’s meeting against Goa as the duo are suspended after picking red cards in the 1-0 loss to Al Wahda last Friday.
Ortiz breaks the deadlock for FC Goa! He gets in behind the defence to get to a long ball over the top, hits the keeper’s body with his first attempt but slots home the rebound! That’s just the second goal by Goa in the ACL.
Al Wahda has defeated Persepolis today (0-1). This means FC Goa will not be able to stand the chance to progress from the group stage. The Gaurs have drawn and lost two games each from their four fixtures so far.

FC Goa remain winless in Group E of the AFC Champions League. They took the lead tonight against Al Rayyan in their fifth match of the group via a Jorge Ortiz goal in the 3rd minute. However, a late strike by Ali Farydoon from a Dheeraj Singh error allowed Al Rayyan to pick up a point.
Goa are out of the race to qualify from Group E but have one more game left before their ACL campaign comes to an end.
