Messi and Suarez to leave Barcelona?

Lionel Messi has reportedly told Barcelona that he wishes to leave the club immediately rather than entertain a potential exit in 2021 because of the humiliating defeat in champions league quarter finals and he is also firmly against the management of the club.

Suarez has been a big part of Barcelona’s success in recent years. But, now Barcelona are willing to cut him loose.

They feel the player’s huge salary is too much at the current time and, as a result, are open to letting the veteran leave for a non-European club.

If Messi, Suarez and Pique leave Barcelona this summer nobody can stop them from being the next AC Milan. FC Barcelona now looks like a failed project and lacks young blood who can change the clubs fortune.

With Messi, Suarez, and Pique considering a move out of the Camp Nou, Barcelona now seem like a sinking ship with no captain on board to protect them. However, despite the complete mess that the club is in, the board still has not learned their lesson

The first one to volunteer will be me, if new blood has to come in and change this dynamic I will be the first to go, to step aside”. – Gerard Pique

Henry, a failure of a manager would do no good by replacing Quique Setien. With Messi, Suarez, and Pique possibly leaving, and with the appointment of Henry as the manager of the club for the 2020/21 season, one can only pray that the club does not get relegated

The cleaning operation begins at FC Barcelona and Ronald Koeman has communicated this Monday morning, by telephone, to Luis Suárez that he does not want him for next season.

The Dutch coach had a brief call with the Uruguayan striker to tell him that he is not in his plans for the season starting this Sunday.

Barcelona will meet the lawyers of Luis Suarez in the next few hours to settle the termination of the player’s contract.

Getting rid of Suarez is probably the right move. Terminating his contract is probably a bit harsh, on a Barcelona legend. I thought he was probably on his way out but I didn’t expect it to happen like this.

Ivan Rakitic, Arturo Vidal and Samuel Umtiti have been told they are not part of Barcelona’s plans as Ronald Koeman’s clearout begins. The veterans received similar calls telling them to leave.

Arturo, Rakitic, and Suárez all have a year left in their respective contracts and the recently-signed Umtiti has three years left.

Philippe Coutinho, though, has been told that he will continue at the Camp Nou after a season on loan at Bayern Munich.

Sergio Busquets, Gerard Piqué and Jordi Alba, did not appear on the list of those being shown the door – suggesting there is a chance that they continue.

Alba, who renewed his deal last year and whose contract runs until 2024, has been told he will stay.

Luis Suarez has rejected the chance to join Juventus this summer.

It’s learned that Suarez’s primary reason for rejecting a move to Turin was due to his inability to attain an Italian passport before 6 October, which would mean he’d be ineligible to play in next season’s Champions League.

Barca are desperate to get rid of him due to a couple reasons. One, New coach doesn’t see Suarez in his plans. Two, Barca are working hard to secure the signing of Lyon captain Memphis Depay to replace Suarez. But, they will have to sell the Uruguayan before they can fund a deal for the Dutchman.

Barca was even ready to pay off part of the final year of the Uruguayan’s contract at the club - worth around £15m.

With Juve out of the picture and Barcelona desperate to get rid of one of the highest earners of their books, Atletico Madrid have emerged as front-runners. Diego Simeone is an admirer of Suarez.

Since joining Barca from Liverpool in 2014, Suarez has won a host of trophies, including the 2015 Champions League and four Liga titles.

He leaves as the club’s third highest scorer with 198 goals behind Cesar Rodriguez (232) and Lionel Messi (634).

The move to Barcelona’s La Liga rivals follows a failed attempt to join Juventus.

Messi’ minces no words in his farewell post to Suarez on Instagram:

You deserved to leave as what you are : One of the most important players in the club’s history, achieving important things both as a team and individually. And not get kicked out like you did. But the truth is that at this point nothing surprises me.
