“With Farukh and Len Doungel coming in they have added a great dimension to our forward play and that was evident in the Hyderabad game. We want to stay positive. They are an attack-minded team and they will want the three points. They have the momentum with their unbeaten run. We have to start our unbeaten run. It has started with a draw against Hyderabad and now what we have to do is continue the unbeaten run until the end of the season,” said Jamshedpur head coach Owen Coyle ahead of the game.
What an exciting game from Kerala Blasters! Chances galore both in the first half and the second half but they just couldn’t find the back of the net.
Gary Hooper managed to get one just beyond the goal line but it wasn’t given by the referee and the linesman. Jordan Murray had a number of chances but he just couldn’t find the target and kept shooting wide or over. Puitea, who was exquisite with his passes, also hit the post. Extremely dramatic, Jamshedpur had more shots on target (4) but Kerala Blasters had a total of 18 shots, only two on target and none found the back of the net.
Kerala had more of the possession and took a total of 18 shots but only two on target (excluding the ones that hit the crossbar). Jamshedpur had a total of eight shots with four on target!
Game of miss. If you try to find why KBFC is in the current position in the league table. That’s because of these misses.
Build up was there but no precision is there in front.
Garry Hooper, murry both misses many opportunities in the game.
For JFC I really can’t understand why aniket was in bench for so long? They must have been planning something beyond my understanding.
However these teams are good but the point is blunt striking can not give you winning. If you are defending very well that’s ok but match is own by the goals.
Sometimes we mortal beings function beyond anyone’s understanding! There is a master plan written for us and we are just executing it as pawns of the universe…
Jamshedpur FC Head Coach Owen Coyle After the Game
"In the first few minutes, we were very comfortable. The last 15 minutes from Kerala were great, their players were getting in between the lines. We had chances and we could have scored too. It was important to keep the clean sheet as well. Without any disrespect, this is a club that has never been in the playoffs, so these draws play a part as well as much as I wanted to win. Pleased with the point.
"Sometimes even as a striker, you contribute to goals instead of just scoring and Valskis does that. He is still getting chances, it’s just about finishing them and he’s a great striker. If we can get some better crosses, he can start scoring for fun. As a team may be we can help him more.
“I think we did control the game in the beginning but we lost a bit from the point where Kerala took control. We are a team who haven’t been in the playoffs, so we have to take it bit-by-bit. There’s all to play for and it’s never over. That’s what we strive for.”
Kerala Blasters Assistant Coach Ishfaq Ahmed After the Match
"I think when we go back and analyse the match, we had a lot of chance, we missed them. We need to check the height of the goalpost today (chuckles). They pressed us high initially but then we got control.
A little bit unfortunate, the boys worked hard, they stuck to our plans. The coach will be disappointed that we didn’t get three points but we go on and look at the next games."
Kerala Blasters and Jamshedpur FC played out a goalless draw in what was a closely-fought battle at the GMC Stadium in Bambolim. Kibu Vicuna’s side created the bulk of the chances but struggled to keep them on target and even hit the woodwork on three occasions. The result now sees the Blasters extend their unbeaten run to five while Owen Coyle’s side are now winless in as many matches in a row.
Highlights - Kerala Blasters 0-0 Jamshedpur FC - Match 73
Hyderabad FC face Bengaluru FC at the Tilak Maidan Stadium in Vasco on Thursday. Both sides were held to draws in their last fixtures, with Bengaluru leaving it late to draw 1-1 against Odisha FC, while Hyderabad were held to a 0-0 draw by Jamshedpur FC.
Although unbeaten in their previous five matches, Hyderabad have drawn their last three games. A strong performance in a goalless draw against Mumbai City FC was followed by draws against Jamshedpur FC and Odisha FC and Manuel Marquez will hope for a better show from his team against a Bengaluru side that hasn’t had the best of campaigns so far.
The Blues, meanwhile, have kept just two clean sheets in thirteen games this season and need to be more robust at the back between now and the end of the league stage. There has been a marked improvement in their attacking play under interim head coach Naushad Moosa but they are still lacking the clinical edge in the opposition box.
They haven’t scored from open play in their last seven games and have netted eight of their goals from set-pieces this season. The Blues will need to be at their best for a positive result against Hyderabad and will look forward to capitalizing against a Hyderabad side that has conceded six goals from set-pieces this campaign.
“Bengaluru are a very strong team and I can only speak good about them. They have been unlucky with a few results recently but are one of the many teams in the hunt for top-four. We need to be at our best going into this game. When we have the ball, we will try to arrive in the attacking third with as many players as possible. When they have the ball, we have to avoid that they arrive at our box with danger,” said Marquez, Hyderabad head coach, ahead of the clash.
“In the last two days, we’ve worked on how to be compact and avoid switching off. The first 15 minutes in any game is crucial and we need to keep the ball in those opening stages. The way Hyderabad FC are playing, pressing high, moving possession around and between the lines, they have been really good. They’re a good team and it’s important for us to get three points tomorrow,” said Bengaluru’s interim head coach Moosa.
Hyderabad haven’t yet beaten Bengaluru in three attempts. Last season, the two teams played out a draw in Hyderabad, while the Blues won 1-0 at the Sree Kanteerava Stadium.
The reverse fixture earlier this season ended in a 0-0 draw at the Fatorda.
