Bengaluru have now lost three games in a row in the 2020-21 Indian Super League.

Bengaluru suffered a 1-3 defeat against Mumbai City at the Fatorda Stadium in Goa on Tuesday and set an unwanted club record.

First-half goals from Mourtada Fall and Bipin Singh handed the Blues a reality-check as they eye a top-four spot in the 2020-21 Indian Super League (ISL). The defeat to Islanders meant that Bengaluru have lost three games in a row for the first time in the history of ISL.

Carles Cuadrat’s team last won a game on December 17 against Odisha. They then lost 1-0 to ATK Mohun Bagan and Jamshedpur before succumbing to a 1-3 defeat against Mumbai on Tuesday.

Although this is the first time that the Blues have lost three in a row, they have suffered two back-to-back defeats twice in the 2018 season. The current run is only the fourth time that the Blues have suffered back-to-back defeats.

Bengaluru have had a poor record against Mumbai in the last two seasons. They have lost more games to the Islanders than any other team and are winless against them in the last two seasons. These two teams have played five matches in the last two seasons and the Islanders have won four times.

BREAKING NEWS - Bengaluru FC Part Ways With Head Coach Carles Cuadrat

Bengaluru FC have announced that they have parted ways with their head coach Carles Cuadrat on mutual consent. Assistant coach Naushad Moosa will take charge as the interim coach of the club with immediate effect.

“After deep deliberation with the management, we feel the club needs to head in a new direction – one where the ethos and philosophy of Bengaluru FC begin reflecting again. While we enjoyed success with Carles in the past, we felt there was a departure from the philosophy that we hold true this season, which prompted us to arrive at this decision,” said Parth Jindal, Director, Bengaluru FC.

“I want to express gratitude for everything that Carles has done for this wonderful football club. In the five years, he has spent with us, he has been through all the ups and downs we’ve experienced at BFC,” he added.

Looks like the loss against Mumbai City yesterday seems to be the cause to pull the trigger.

SC East Bengal vs FC Goa

SC East Bengal faces FC Goa tonight at Tilak Maidan Stadium, Vasco.

SC East Bengal will be counting on the confidence gained from its first win of the tournament in its previous outing against Odisha FC.

The two sides are meeting for the first time. Goa has risen to the third spot with 14 points after wins against Jamshedpur FC and Hyderabad FC, while East Bengal continues in the 10th position with just 6 points.

The Gaurs definitely have the form and will start as the favourite but the red-and-gold brigade are no pushovers bettering their performance in the last three rounds, where it has remained unbeaten. The East Bengal head coach Robbie Fowler admitted of getting the proverbial monkey off the back after beating Odisha FC and securing the team’s first win at the same venue. This is crucial for his team now.

Preview: SC East Bengal vs FC Goa

SC East Bengal will lock horns with FC Goa in the Indian Super League (ISL) on Wednesday.

SC East Bengal had a dismal start to their ISL debut. They were winless in the league after seven games but ended this streak in their last match against Odisha FC. Robbie Fowler’s men picked up a convincing 3-1 win over the bottom-placed team. However, the defense has been an area of concern for them as they have failed to keep a clean sheet till now.

While SC East Bengal currently sit 10th on the league table, FC Goa are in a comfortable position. The Gaurs are currently third on the table. With 14 points from 9 matches, there is still a lot of room for improvement.

Just like SC East Bengal, FC Goa have been poor defensively. They have kept just one clean sheet till now. If Ferrando wants to replicate what Lobera did at the club, the team will need to shift gears.

10-man East Bengal Hold Goa to 1-1 Draw

A spirited effort from SC East Bengal saw them hold FC Goa to a 1-1 draw. The Gaurs dominated the match right from the start with their passing play. However, they failed to find that killer pass that would have given them the lead.

SCEB too showed glimpses of brilliance but failed to make the most of the chances they created in the first half. As the second half began, FC Goa mounted pressure on the Red-and-Gold brigade backline, as they tested them inside the minute. Robbie Fowler’s side received a massive blow when skipper Daniel Fox was shown a straight red for a reckless challenge. FC Goa upped the ante but could not breach the SCEB backline. It was the Kolkata-based side who broke the deadlock after Bright Enobakhare with some silky footwork danced past three-four FC Goa defenders to roll the ball in into an empty net. However, SC East Bengal’s lead lasted a minute or so as Devendra headed home the equaliser. Both teams had their half-chances after those two quick goals but failed to hit the target as the match ended 1-1.

Following the 1-1 draw against Sc East Bengal, FC Goa hold onto the third spot while SC East Bengal moves above Kerala Blasters. SCEB have 7 points after 9 games while KBFC have 6 points after 8 games.
