⚽ Who Are The Managers Who Have Been Sacked This 2022-2023 Season?

Manchester United legend Wayne Rooney is reportedly interested in becoming the manager of Premier League strugglers Southampton after the job became available at the weekend.

Nathan Jones was relieved of his duties on Sunday by the Saints following the club’s 2-1 defeat at Molineux and that left the Premier League strugglers stuck to the bottom of the table.

According to talkSPORT, Rooney, who is currently in charge of MLS side DC United, would love the chance to return to English football with Southampton; with Steven Gerrard and Frank Lampard’s names also put forward by talkSPORT’s Alex Crook.

Tottenham Hotspur are not overly keen on extending Antonio Conte’s contract.

That’s according to a recent report from Football Insider, who claims the Italian is more likely to leave the Lilywhites at the end of the season than he is to renew his deal and stay on.

Consequently, there is a feeling that Daniel Levy will need to find and hire another new permanent manager, and according to these latest reports, one man who has impressed the chairman is Brighton and Hove Albion boss Roberto De Zerbi.

Steven Gerrard has been touted as a possible name to replace Christoph Galtier as PSG boss if he is sacked at the end of the season.

This is according to ex-Liverpool defender Gregory Vignal, who says that Gerrard is more than ready to start a new project after being out of a job for a while.

“I’m pretty sure that Steven is ready to crack on again. I think he is strong enough mentally to start a new project,” Vignal told Scottish Daily Express.

“Why not Paris Saint-Germain? They have been talking about him. I am sure he can get a good job soon whether that is in the Premier League or abroad.”

It’s certainly a big claim from Vignal, with Gerrard being dismissed as Aston Villa boss in October having guided the club to just one win in their opening 12 league games, while his previous job was at Rangers, so perhaps a move to a side that are seriously intent on Champions League glory may not be the right move for Gerrard at this time.

Marco Silva has emerged as a candidate to replace Antonio Conte as Tottenham boss should the Italian depart in the summer.

Conte’s contract at Tottenham is set to expire in the summer and with fans growing impatient over disappointing results and poor performances, it is looking very likely that he will move on at the end of the campaign.

As a result, SunSport report that Fulham boss Silva has been tipped to replace the Italian in the summer.

The Portuguese had transformed Fulham this season as they sit 9th, nine points off 4th place while playing some very attractive football to get them in the position they are.

Sacked by Everton in 2019, Silva’s reputation as a manager took a huge hit but he has recovered superbly, winning the Championship last season and getting a league record 43 goals out of Aleksandar Mitrovic in the process.

Former Chelsea and Brighton manager Graham Potter is reportedly being eyed up as a possible candidate to become the next manager of Ligue 1 side Nice.

The Englishman is currently out of work following a difficult spell in charge of Chelsea, and it remains to be seen what kind of level he’ll return to next once he does get back to management.

While there’s no doubt Potter looked superb during his time in charge of Brighton, it seems the move to Chelsea was too much for him.

Still, Nice could be an interesting option, and it seems they’re eyeing him up as one of a number of candidates for the job, according to Nice-Matin.
