What is a brace in football?


Often times hearing this in FIFA news these days.


If a football player scores two goals in a game, it is called a brace. Brace, in old English, means a pair of something, typically of birds or mammals killed in hunting.


If a player scores 3 goals, it is called a hat-trick, 4 = haul, 5 = glut, 6 = double hat-trick, and 7 = haul-trick.
