Football fans, it’s time to weigh in on one of the sport’s most heated debates! The introduction of VAR promised fairness and accuracy, but has it delivered? From disallowed goals by millimeters to lengthy match interruptions, opinions remain deeply divided.
Is VAR improving the game by reducing errors, or is it ruining the passion and flow we all love? Are referees relying too much on technology, or is the issue a lack of consistency in decisions?
Join the discussion and share your thoughts on how we can strike the perfect balance between technology and tradition in football officiating.
In my opinion, VAR has both improved and complicated football. It ensures fairness in critical moments but often disrupts the game’s flow and creates inconsistent decisions. While it aims to reduce errors, it sometimes takes away the spontaneity and raw emotion that make football exciting.
To truly benefit the game, VAR needs faster decisions, clearer guidelines, and consistent application. Otherwise, it risks doing more harm than good.
Liverpool protested the referee’s decision to play on after Bergvall’s challenge on Tsimikas, arguing he should have received a second yellow card before scoring the winning goal.
Later in the game, Liverpool also appealed for a penalty when Kulusevski appeared to kick Curtis Jones, but the referee waved play on.
