Match Report

Dortmund were superior from the off at Signal Iduna Park and pushed for an opener, but Antonio Adan denied Marco Reus 19 minutes in.

Following a smooth move in the middle third, Jude Bellingham set up Malen, who slotted the ball past Adan and into the bottom left corner in the 37th minute.

Reus netted one of his own just after the break but it was ruled out for offside, while Malen scored a second later on, but his goal was overruled by VAR for offside as well.

Messi’s insane record against English clubs

On the back of his latest strike, Messi’s insane record against English sides has been brought up once again.

The South American now has a staggering 27 goals against England’s top-six clubs since 2011/12.

Only three players; Jamie Vardy, Sergio Aguero and Eden Hazard, have scored more in the same period.

What makes Messi’s achievement so special though, is that, unlike the other players on the below list, Messi has never even played in the Premier League.

Sheriff Tiraspol having never previously participated in the UEFA Champions League…

They are the most powerful club in the Transnistria district, which is recognized as part of Moldova but is a non-recognised breakaway state.

They were established in 1997, one year before Real Madrid C.F. won their SEVENTH European Cup.

Their squad is valued at around 12 million euros, which is less than Karim Benzema, Luka Modri, and Thibaut Courtois make in a year. Los Blancos’ team is valued at more than 780 million euros…

Sheriff travelled to the Santiago Bernabeu, the first time European football had visited the renowned venue in almost two years, to play the most important game in their history.

Real Madrid 1-2 Sheriff. 89th minute winner. The greatest upset in the history of European football.:clap:

Manchester United vs Villarreal

Manchester United will be hoping to bounce back from their recent rut and get off the mark in the 2021/22 UEFA Champions League when they play hosts to Villarreal in Group F, in what will be a replay of the Europa League finals from last season.

The past fortnight has been a difficult one for Manchester United, with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer & co. losing three of their last four games across all competitions, including their Champions League opener against Young Boys, leaving them rooted to the bottom of Group F. The Red Devils lost each of their last two games, both at home and will be desperate to set things right as pressure mounts on the manager.

Villarreal, meanwhile, are unbeaten in the new season following their UEFA Super Cup penalty loss to Chelsea. However, wins have been hard to come by for Unai Emery’s side, who have picked up just one victory in six league outings, drawing five, with the latest coming against Real Madrid. Their Champions League opener also ended in a 2-2 draw against Atalanta.
