1970 - Leeds United and Manchester United will face in their opening top-flight league matches of a season for the first time since 1970-71, when the Whites won 1-0 at Old Trafford with a goal from Mick Jones.

10 - Manchester City have won their first league match of the season in each of their last 10 top-flight campaigns stretching back to 2011-12, the joint-longest such run in top-flight history alongside Aston Villa between 1891-92 and 1900-01.

74 - Brentford’s opening day match against Arsenal will be their first top-flight match for 74 years, since a 1-0 defeat against the Gunners in May 1947. The only team with a longer gap between top-flight matches is Bradford City (77 years, 1922 - 1999).

3 - For a third consecutive season, Liverpool will face newly promoted opposition in their opening Premier League match of the season - they’ve scored exactly four goals in each of the previous two (4-1 vs Norwich in 2019-20, 4-3 vs Leeds in 2020-21).
