England to allow limited number of fans back into stadiums starting in December

A new system of coronavirus restrictions will allow supporters in low-risk areas to attend matches for the first time since March.

Supporters in some areas of England will be allowed to return to football stadiums next month under plans announced by the UK Government.

UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson revealed the government’s latest set of measures designed to limit the spread of Covid-19 on Monday, offering a look at what the plan will be for football supporters going forward.

He confirmed that the four-week national lockdown in England will end on Wednesday December 2 and will be replaced by a new three-tiered system.

The number of supporters allowed into stadiums, if any, will depend on what tier a club’s stadium is placed in.

  • Outdoors stadiums in tier 1 areas - deemed to be medium risk by the Government - will be allowed to hold up to 4,000 socially-distanced fans or half of their maximum capacity, depending on which is fewer.

  • Outdoor stadiums in tier 2 areas - viewed to be high risk - can welcome up to 2,000 spectators or half of their maximum capacity, depending on which is fewer.

  • Indoors stadiums in tiers 1 and 2 will be allowed to host up to 1,000 fans or half of their maximum capacity, depending on which is fewer.

  • But both indoor and outdoors stadiums in tier 3 areas - seen as very high risk - will have to continue to hold events behind closed doors.

The government is expected to announce what tiers each area will be placed in on Thursday.

The first matches with supporters back in stadiums are likely to take place on Wednesday, December 2, with 13 matches scheduled to take place across the EFL.

Outdoor grassroots sport will be allowed to resume in England when the national lockdown ends. This will include golf courses, tennis courts and football clubs - and gyms will also be able to re-open.

VAR in the middle of another controversy! VAR has once again caused controversy in the Premier League, after Aston Villa striker Ollie Watkins was denied a legitimate-looking last minute equalizer against West Ham.

With the Hammers leading 2-1 going into injury time, Watkins seemed to equalize the 91st minute. It looked for all the world like they had snatched a late draw.

However, there was a twist in the tail. Watkins’ late finish was not the end of the drama at the London Stadium. As Watkins was taking the ball back to the center circle for the restart, the game was halted by VAR putting the goal under review. All thought Watkins was legit, But VAR off sided him by an armpit!

There were rumours of Chelsea being interested in Alaba after the player withdrawn the request of contract extension with Bayern. But media reports now suggest that Chelsea are not interested in David Alaba, and David Alaba is not interested in Chelsea.

It is believed that Chelsea are very happy with their defense around Thiago Silva and Ben Chilwell and Alaba doesn’t seem to be a transfer target for the Blues either in January or in the summer of 2021.
