Arsenal vs Manchester City preview:

After a three-game run without a win in the league, Arsenal bounced back with the 4-2 thrashing of Leeds United last week, which put them in tenth place in the standings. However, the Gunners weren’t able to build on that victory in midweek as they were held to a 1-1 draw by Benfica in the UEFA Europa League. They will be hoping to get back to winning ways come Sunday.

Manchester City meanwhile, are running away with the Premier League title. The 3-1 win over Everton in midweek in the Premier League meant Guardiola’s side have now opened up a ten-point lead over second-placed Manchester United and are currently on a seventeen-game winning streak across all competitions. They will be looking to extend that run and bag three more points at the Emirates.

The reverse fixture, played at the Etihad Stadium, saw Manchester City beat Arsenal 1-0, with Raheem Sterling finding the back of the net. The two teams also met in the Carabao Cup quarter-finals in December last year, with the Cityzens winning 4-1 at the Emirates.

Arsenal are likely to be without Thomas Partey for Sunday’s Premier League visit of leaders Manchester City.

Kieran Tierney came off the bench in the Europa League draw with Benfica following a leg injury and could return to the starting XI.

Manchester City are waiting on free-scoring midfielder Ilkay Gundogan and will assess the Germany international before heading to London.
Gundogan took part in some of Friday’s training session after missing the 3-1 midweek win at Everton with a groin injury.

Sergio Aguero could be involved with City manager Pep Guardiola confirming every member of his squad is fit with the exception of defender Nathan Ake.

Manchester United vs Newcastle preview:

After looking like potential title challengers, Manchester United have won just one of their last five league games, allowing Manchester City to open up a ten-point lead at the top, which could be 13 by the time the Red Devils’ game kicks off. But the performance in the 4-0 win over Real Sociedad in the UEFA Europa League earlier this week will have lifted the morale within the squad.

Newcastle United, meanwhile, are dawdling just above the drop zone, with Steve Bruce’s men only a few points clear of 18th placed Fulham. The Magpies head into Sunday’s game on the back of a 2-0 defeat to Chelsea but having managed to get the better of the likes of Everton and Southampton over the past few weeks, they will back themselves to cause an upset this weekend.

The reverse fixture at St. James’ Park in October last year saw Manchester United come back from a goal down to beat Newcastle United 4-1

Edinson Cavani, Donny van de Beek and Scott McTominay will be assessed ahead of Manchester United’s Premier League match against Newcastle.

McTominay played in Turin but the United boss suggested he also needs checking ahead of a match that Paul Pogba (thigh) and Phil Jones (knee) are out of.

Newcastle will once again be without 10-goal top-scorer Callum Wilson because of a hamstring injury.

Full-back Javi Manquillo is responding well to treatment on an ankle injury but he, too, is set to miss out, although midfielder Jeff Hendrick is available again after missing the defeat to Chelsea on Monday through suspension.
