Leicester City vs Arsenal

Arsenal are one of the most in-form teams in the Premier League at the moment. Since the 5-0 defeat at the hands of Manchester City, the club from North London has gone on to win six of their eight matches in all competitions, remaining unbeaten in the process.

Is that, however, a true reflection of Mikel Arteta’s men’s abilities? We’ll find out this weekend when the Gunners travel to King Power Stadium to face Leicester City. Arsenal faced only one real top-six club during their eight-game unbeaten streak: Tottenham Hotspur. Six of their eight opponents are now either in the Premier League’s bottom half or in the lower level.
Leicester City, their weekend opponent, hasn’t been without flaws. Brendan Rodgers’ side has only 14 points in nine games this season after missing out on the top four for the second year in a row last season.

Luckily for Arsenal, Ben White is expected to be fit for the game after being substituted with illness during Tuesday’s win over Leeds in the Carabao Cup.

Arteta also hopes that Martin Odegaard, Pablo Mari and Kieran Tierney will return, though Granit Xhaka remains sidelined.

Jamie Vardy is available for Leicester after returning to training, but the Foxes are still without Wilfred Ndidi, Wesley Fofana, Marc Albrighton and James Justin.

Newcastle vs Chelsea

Chelsea has been in excellent form this season, winning five games in a row in all competitions. In their most recent Premier League match, the Blues thrashed Norwich City 7-0. However, they were put to the test in midweek against Southampton in the Carabao Cup, when they were only able to win on penalties.

Despite facing a Newcastle United side that has struggled this season, Thomas Tuchel’s side will be confident in their ability to secure all three points and maintain their lead at the top of the table. The Magpies are one of only three teams in the Premier League without a win so far this season.

Newcastle was beaten to a 1-1 draw by Crystal Palace last weekend after losing 3-2 to Tottenham Hotspur. Following the sacking of Steve Bruce, interim manager Graeme Jones will once again assume charge of the team, hoping to pull off a major upset to get the Tynesiders off to a good start this season.

Cesar Azpilicueta, Andreas Christensen and Ruben Loftus-Cheek are back after missing the midweek win over Southampton.

But Mateo Kovacic will miss the game after injuring his hamstring during training.

“He will be out for some weeks because he’ll miss next week for sure and then comes international break as well,” Tuchel said. “It’s a minimum of those weeks.”

With Romelu Lukaku, Christian Pulisic and Timo Werner already out, more absences would be a big blow. N’Golo Kante is expected to return.

As for Newcastle, led by interim boss Graeme Jones while the club search for a permanent successor to Steve Bruce, Jonjo Shelvey is suspended and Martin Dubravka and Paul Dummett remain sidelined. Freddie Woodman is rated as 50/50.

Tottenham vs Manchester United

Manchester United are in serious trouble after going four games without a win in the Premier League, including a 4-2 setback at Leicester City and a terrifying 5-0 loss at home to bitter rivals Liverpool last weekend. Manchester United has slid to seventh place in the table, eight points behind leaders Chelsea and three behind fourth-placed West Ham. Manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has come under fire as a result of recent defeats and lackluster performances.

Tottenham have been struggling, with their form worsening after a promising start under new manager Nuno Espirito Santo. Following back-to-back 1-0 losses to Vitesse Arnhem (Europa Conference League) and West Ham United (Premier League), the Lilywhites got back on track this week, defeating Burnley 1-0 in the Carabao Cup, and will look to build on that success.

Matt Doherty returned to the match day squad in Lancashire, but was an unused substitute.

Paul Pogba is suspended for United after his woeful red-card challenge on Naby Keita last Sunday that saw the Liverpool midfielder stretchered off.

However, compatriot Raphael Varane is back in full training after a groin injury suffered on international duty, which should help to fix Solskjaer’s leaky defence.

Anthony Martial could also return against Spurs.
