Preview: Manchester United vs. Leeds United

Old rivals renew hostilities on Sunday afternoon, as Manchester United welcomes Leeds United to Old Trafford for the first league meeting between the two sides since February 2004.

The hosts come into the match now sitting in 6th in the Premier league table with a game in hand over most of the teams around them. While Leeds where big winners against Newcastle United last time out.

Old Trafford is by no means the fortress it used to be at the moment, though, with the Red Devils having won just one of their last eight Premier League games on their own patch.

Only three teams have picked up fewer points at home all season, and perhaps even more worrying is the fact that only Burnley have scored fewer home goals than Man United’s measly tally of three from six games so far.

Inconsistency has been the issue for Marcelo Bielsa’s side side so far, with five wins and six defeats among their 13 outings, including just two wins from their last seven.

Sunday will be Marcelo Bielsa’s third managerial meeting with Manchester United, and a good omen for Leeds fans is that he won the previous two - home and away with Athletic Bilbao in the 2011-12 Europa League.

Preview: Tottenham Hotspur vs. Leicester City

Just two points separates Tottenham and Leicester City in the standings, but they are both coming into the game off the back of disappointing midweek defeats to Merseyside oppositions.

Both Spurs and Leicester will be heading into this top-four showdown off the back of disheartening defeats, though, and with only five points separating second from 10th, another loss here could easily see them surrender their lofty positions.

Mourinho’s men have won their last six home games, conceding just once in the process and are unbeaten in 10 across all competitions on their own patch, scoring 27 goals in that time.

In the league alone Spurs have only lost one of their last 11 home outings - a vast improvement on a record of three defeats in their first eight such matches under Mourinho.

However, part of the intrigue surrounding this match lies in the fact that Leicester are also fast improving away from home; they picked up just six points from their first nine away games of 2020, winning only once, but so far this term they have won five of their six such outings.

Recent history suggests that another defeat may be forthcoming for Rodger’s men, with Leicester having only won one of their last nine Premier League away games against Tottenham - winning 1-0 at White Hart Lane in their title-winning campaign.

Rodgers himself has never got the better of Mourinho in seven previous meetings either, which is his longest winless run against any manager.
