Kobe Bryant Will Be The Cover For NBA 2K21's Mamba Forever Edition

To honour the Basketball legend, Late Kobe Bryant, 2K Games announced on Twitter that the lakers icon will be the cover athlete for their 'Mamba Forever Edition’. Five-time NBA champion, a league MVP in 2008, and an eighteen-time NBA All-Star has been the cover athlete on three separate occasions already (NBA 2K10 , NBA 2K17 , and now NBA 2K21. The Mamba Forever special edition will retail for $100 and the covers for the current console will feature Bryant wearing his No. 8 jersey which he wore in the first half of his career and the next-gen covers will have his No. 24 jersey which he wore in the second half.

2k Games is a Billion dollar company and the flip side of this can also be a great marketing technique to profit off from his death. Do you think this can split the basketball fans?

The late Kobe Bryant is the third athlete to feature on the NBA 2K21 cover along with Portland Trail Blazers star Damian Lillard and New Orleans Pelicans star rookie Zion Williamson. While Bryant gets his own Mamba Forever edition, Lillard’s cover will feature as the current generation cover athlete and appear on Xbox One and PlayStation 4 editions of the game. Zion Williamson, who is the next-gen cover athlete, will feature on the PS5 and Xbox Series X editions.

The Mamba Forever special edition will have 100,000 VC (in game currency) bonus skill points for MyPlayer mode, extra MyTeam cards, and other in-game accessories. If players buy the “Mamba Forever Edition” on their current-gen consoles, they will get the standard version for free on next-gen. Conversely, if they purchase it on next-gen consoles, they get the standard version for free on current-gen. At the moment, it seems that progress in NBA 2K21 's MyPlayer mode will not carry over across generations, and there is no way to get the “Mamba Forever Edition” on both generations without paying the $99.99 twice.
