Played well without reward - Csaba Laszlo desperate for goals from Chennaiyin FC forwards

Chennaiyin wasted a flurry of chances in their 1-2 loss against Mumbai City and held ATK Mohun Bagan to a 0-0 draw. Naturally, their goal-scoring has been the biggest concern for Laszlo.

“I don’t want to say that we created the most chances in the league but somehow we didn’t score enough goals. If you don’t score goals, it’s very difficult to win games. You cannot always only defend and expect to be without mistakes at the back. We are organised at the back but I wish we score the chances that we create,” he stressed.

Preview: Odisha FC vs Chennaiyin FC

Odisha FC take on Chennaiyin FC in the Indian Super League (ISL) on Wednesday at the Goa Medical College Ground in Bambolim.

Odisha FC are placed at the bottom of the table with 6 points from 10 games but are unbeaten in their last two fixtures.

Chennaiyin FC have had a shaky ISL season so far. The Marina Machans showed glimpses of their quality but have been highly inconsistent. They are placed 8th in the standings with 11 points from 10 games. They are winless in their last four fixtures.

CFC 2-0 OFC [45:00 min]

OFC is two goals down due to couple of mistakes from BORA. Marcelinho started today but completely missing. As he is suppose to bridge the gap between mid and attack his off game results lack of ball service to ONWU. But WHY DIEGO MARICIO IS IN BENCH? that man almost scored a hatrik in the last game as well as was the hero of the match. That man is the key. Need to introduce him as early as possible.

Talking about CFC thapa is again impressive. He earned the penalty very well. Changte is struggling a bit. Rahim ali was impressive. Although the opponent defense gifted the chances but ISMA was effective to capitalise them.

Diego will come in the next half. And more goals will come.

Even I was surprised after not seeing him in Starting XI line-up, especially after @Shashank post. :innocent:

FINAL SCORE LINE:- CTC 2-0 OFC

Seriously if Diego was in the starting 11 OFC could get points from the match. What a briliant finish!

In the 2nd half CFC allowed OFC to pressure them. Something is wrong in the management of OFC. Marcelino taken off to introduce Diego good decision. But why jerry was taken off? Why nanda is in bench? These overseas managers are having problems with identifying indian players.

Have you seen the miss of yakub silvestra? If you have then you know why rahim ali got preference over him. Indian players are doing well this season.

Cheers to the beautiful game of football.

This man played with real stars like ronaldinho in flamengo and coutinho, casemiro, oscar, neymar in brazil national U20 team.

When he was in flamengo many fans compare MaurĂcio to Didier Drogba, calling him Drogbinha, which means the Little Drogba.

This player is of real class.

For any player with a minimum of three goals, Isma (105) has the third best minutes per goal ratio in this ISL season. Only Igor Angulo (96.4) and Bartholomew Ogbeche (98.8) have a better min/goal ratio than the Chennaiyin FC forward.

In that case, to answer my own question, I guess Stuart Baxter, Odisha FC coach could be in-line next! :grimacing: I hope not…and they bounce back soon. :slightly_smiling_face:

With just 6 points in 11 games and 3 points behind Kerala who has a game in hand, at the bottom of the table, I think its just a matter of when will Odisha make it official now…He is probably the next in line as I don’t see him turning the fortunes of the club around…

Chennaiyin FC grabbed their first Hero ISL win of 2021 after edging Odisha FC 2-1 in Bambolim. Esmael Goncalves netted a quickfire brace to give Csaba Laszlo’s side a comfortable lead heading into the break. In the second half, Odisha FC gave themselves a fighting chance courtesy of substitute Diego Mauricio’s well-placed strike. But they were unable to capitalize on the momentum they had built up; giving the two-time champions all three points.
