Delhi Capitals will be out to regain the top spot in the points table as they take on Rajasthan Royals in Match 23 of the Dream11 IPL 2020 at the Sharjah Cricket Stadium.
Searching for their third win of the season, RR, who are looking to halt their three-match losing streak, return to their happy-hunting ground where they have registered two wins from as many games.
RR kicked off their IPL 2020 campaign in style, beating Chennai Super Kings and Kings XI Punjab in Sharjah. However, the Steve Smith-led unit were beaten by Kolkata Knight Riders, Royal Challengers Bangalore and Mumbai Indians across Dubai and Abu Dhabi.
DC, meanwhile, have won four games out of five. Shreyas Iyer and Co. started their campaign with a thrilling Super Over-win against KXIP before coming out on top against CSK. While Sunrisers Hyderabad denied DC a hat-trick of wins, the Delhi franchise bounced back strongly, beating KKR and RCB in the subsequent games.
While DC will be out to regain the top spot in the points table, RR will be keen to return to winning ways, halting DC’s winning juggernaut.
Head To Head
The two teams have faced each other 20 times in the IPL so far, with Rajasthan holding an 11-9 head-to-head win/loss record over Delhi.
RR produced a well planned and well executed bowling performance by RR. RR should be well placed as Sharjah is their favorite ground. They once chased chased down 224 here. Today they have managed to restrict one of the most fearsome batting line-ups in the IPL to only 184.
Their plan was to bowl short and at the body in the Powerplay. Then Tewatiya bowled flat and quick in middle overs. Even short boundaries of Sharjah need Batters to get underneath the ball which Tewatiya didn’t allow. Tewatiya finished with figures of 4-0-20-1. Archer did even better with 4-0-24-3. Both combined well to restrict the DC men.
It’s now over to explosive but inconsistent batsmen of RR to do their bit. The are up against one of the best bowling teams in the IPL. DC bowlers are awesome death overs performers too.
Let’s see who comes up trump at the end of the day!
In the match today DC played extremely well in batting as well as bowling, whereas RR could have played better. DC lost alot of wickets along the way, but they managed to maintain their high run rate. RR could not do the same, that is why they lost.
In the first innings, DC lost some important wickets in the early overs but managed to keep a high score. Towards the end, the dependable Marcus Stoinis and Shimron Hetmyer hit some good boundaries and raised their total to a defendable one. In RR Jofra Archer bowled extremely economically and got some crucial wickets, even Rahul Tewatia bowled great and helped the team.
In the second innings, Jos Buttler got out earlier than expected but the first wicket partnership between Steve Smith and Yashasvi Jaiswal was pretty good. Sadly, this was the only partnership that played well. Almost all other team members got out quickly and failed to score the runs needed. In DC, all bowlers contributed in securing the victory.
In my opinion, RR lost today because they failed to score the runs that DC could even though wickets were continuously falling. RR lost because their batting performance depends on the first few batsman, on the other hand DC has a very dependable middle order who can score runs in crucial moments.
