Mumbai City FC signs Jayesh Rane on loan from Bengaluru FC

Rane has won the Indian Super League twice - with Chennaiyin FC in 2015 and Mohun Bagan Super Giant in 2020. He also won the I-League in 2017 with Aizawl FC.

Durand Cup 2023: Groups, Fixtures, and Dates announced

The Durand Cup, which is the oldest football tournament in Asia, is all set to host its 132nd edition from August 3 to September 3.

The tournament is scheduled to kick off on August 3, with the Hero Indian Super League (ISL) champions, Mohun Bagan Super Giant, taking on Bangladesh Army FT in the opening fixture. The tournament will be played across three cities - Kolkata, Guwahati, and Kokrajhar.

This is the first time in the history of the Durand Cup that it will feature 24 teams, with the teams divided into six groups of four each. 19 Indian clubs and five armed forces teams from India, Nepal, and Bangladesh will participate in this edition, marking the first time in 27 years that a foreign team will join the tournament.

The six group winners and the two best second-placed teams will advance to the knockout stage. Bengaluru FC are the defending champions, having secured victory by defeating Mumbai City FC 2-1 in the Durand Cup 2022 final.

Defending Indian Super League (ISL) champions Mohun Bagan Super Giant have unveiled their home kit for the upcoming 2023-24 season. The redesigned jersey pays tribute to the iconic Mohun Bagan colors, featuring a striking combination of half green and half maroon.

The presentation of the kit was graced by the clubโ€™s owner, Dr. Sanjiv Goenka, alongside new signings Anirudh Thapa and Jason Cummings, who added to the excitement.

The Indian menโ€™s football team has been grouped along with China, Bangladesh and Myanmar for the 2023 Asian Games. Meanwhile, the womenโ€™s team has been grouped with Chinese Taipei and Thailand.

Earlier, the Sports Ministry granted an exemption despite the teams not meeting the criteria of being ranked among the top eight teams in the continent.

Mumbai City draw Al Hilal, Nassaji, Navbahor in AFC Champions League

Mumbai City qualified for the group stage of Asiaโ€™s premier club competition for the second successive season after winning the 2022โ€“23 Indian Super League Shield and the subsequent Club Play-off against Jamshedpur FC.

Al Hilal SFC, record four-time AFC Champions League Winners and finalists in four of the last six seasons, will present the biggest test for the Islanders; they have also recently signed Brazilian superstar Neymar Jr. FC Nassaji Mazandaran, winners of Iranโ€™s 2021-22 Hazfi Cup, and PFC Navbahor Namangan, runners-up of the 2022 Uzbekistan Super League, will be making their AFC Champions League debut.

Mumbai City FC will play their home games at the Shree Shiv Chhatrapati Sports Complex in Pune.

AFC Cup 2023-24 Group Stage Draw

In Asiaโ€™s second-tier competition, India will be represented by continental debutants Odisha FC and qualifying play-off winners Mohun Bagan Super Giant in Group D (South Zone) of the AFC Cup 2023-24. Bashundhara Kings, winners of the 2021-22 Bangladesh Premier League and Maziya S&RC, winners of Maldivesโ€™ 2022 Dhivehi Premier League are the other two sides in the group.

Odisha FC will play their home matches at the Kalinga Stadium in Bhubaneswar, while Kolkataโ€™s Vivekananda Yuba Bharati Krirangan will host Mohun Bagan SGโ€™s home matches.
