Mikel Arteta’s time at Arsenal so far is more of a success than a failure, though it’s a nuanced case. Here’s my take:

Arteta inherited a struggling Arsenal team, low on confidence and identity, and he’s transformed it into one of the most exciting sides in the Premier League. Under his management, the team has developed a distinct style of play, emphasizing fluid attacking football and a solid defensive structure. He has also overseen the emergence of young stars like Bukayo Saka, Gabriel Martinelli, and William Saliba, creating a foundation for long-term success.

The FA Cup win in 2020 was a major achievement early in his tenure, showcasing his ability to motivate the squad and deliver results in big games. Last season’s Premier League title challenge, though ultimately falling short to Manchester City, was a clear sign of progress, as Arsenal had not been serious contenders for years.

However, there have been setbacks. Arteta’s team has occasionally faltered under pressure, especially in critical moments (e.g., the title race collapse in 2022/23 and some early exits in cup competitions). His early seasons were inconsistent, but those growing pains seem to have led to the Arsenal we see today—a team that competes at the top level.

So, while he hasn’t won a league title or made a deep Champions League run yet, Arteta has undeniably restored Arsenal’s competitiveness and reconnected fans with the club’s ambitions. For me, that tips the scale toward success.
