How well Do you know Kia Havertz? The New Chelsea Signing

How much do you know of Kai Havertz? It is certainly a key signing for Chelsea. But do Chelsea fans or even others can answer…you already know of him in terms of role, position, strengths and what he can bring to the team in detail or you guys looking forward to him with an empty slate?

Let’s make this a thread to educate followers who have very less idea on who the young signing is and is he even worthful?

  • Havertz is a complete central midfielder. This is a real coup for the West London club as they have landed a player coveted by every big club on the planet. He has been dubbed the best player in Bayer Leverkusen history and a hybrid of Mesut Özil and Michael Ballack.

  • His first real step towards superstardom came in the 2018-19 season where he bagged 17 goals in league play, leading Leverkusen to a top 4 finish. The 21-year-old, from 118 Bundesliga appearances has already amassed 36 goals and 25 assists.

  • One of Havertz’s biggest positives is his versatility. He has been deployed in different positions across his career and has done justice to each of them. A real joy to watch as his touch on the ball is so sensitive that he often sends opponents the wrong way, allowing him to slide past almost unchallenged. He often looks quicker with the ball at his feet than when running without it.

  • German talents are generally transferred to big clubs in Germany like Bayern and Dortmund, and Bayern had a deal to land him next transfer but he chose Chelsea over them.

Have a look at his tactical report:

  • Havertz burst onto the scene aged 17 and remained a Bayer Leverkusen regular for four seasons. In the past five years, no outfield player under the age of 21 has been on the pitch for longer in any of Europe’s big five leagues than Havertz.

  • Havertz’s creative side is further proven by his big chances created record in the past five years. Only Mbappe and Sancho have set up more than his 37 before their 21st birthday.

  • Last season Havertz was at his productive, creative best. On average every 90 minutes he scored 0.44 goals and created 0.58 big chances .

  • Havertz has played eight Champions League games, making his debut on that stage in a win at Tottenham in November 2016.

  • Kai Havertz has played seven times for Germany to date, winning four of those games, drawing two and losing once. He has scored one goal and supplied three assists, averaging a goal involvement every 1.75 games.
