How to fix Liverpool: What Should Jurgen Klopp do in January to revive the club? 🤔

As Liverpool look to climb the Premier League during the second half of the season, Klopp’s side would be wise to continue exploiting a change in dynamics in how they play and approach games. They enjoyed a brief upturn in form before the World Cup kicked off in Qatar and will now be looking to continue in the same vein when the club football resumes later this month.

What must Liverpool do in the transfer window to ensure they finish the season on a high?

My take on this:

The most notable negative change I noticed about Liverpool in terms of how they play which is also one of the other issues limiting Liverpool has been a drop in their pressing. This shows they have not produced the same level of intensity when they chased Manchester City to the final day of last season and reach the Champions League final. It is another reason why they have suffered defensively. When a team presses effectively, they win the ball high up and therefore their defence will have less to do, but if they fail to do this they can come under greater pressure.

Liverpool have been too transitional in their play; by failing to press aggressively from the front, it has a knock-on effect in midfield and if operating with a high line it can leave a team disoriented, which is helpful for opponents.

Klopp should be looking to fix this early as possible so as to get them back on track!

My own opinion

Before the international break,Jurgen klopp men haven’t really been at their best,as a matter of fact i think they’ve had their worst start to a season campaign
However what I think the issue for Liverpool right now is that they have to change their pattern of play and even players in other to be back at their best and competing for the tittle.

Liverpool was not really active during the transfer window and also loosing one of their Man man Sadio Mane to Bayern without having his replacement and these has resulted in the main reason why they face these challenges.

In other for Liverpool to be back at their best, they need a quality and utility player who can be be like Mane or even better and they also need to recruit some player at the midfield just to be as back up for Thiago and ofcourse their skipper Jordan Henderson

I believe if they can do this, they’ll definitely be back at their best there’s no doubt on that

2021-22 season, they were strong contenders in the PL title but this season they are not even in the top 4! :eyes:

I am puzzled. :exploding_head:

Same top notch manager is heading the team and the team is more or less the same (except Sadio Mane move to Bayern). Then what is the reason for it’s lacklustre performance this season?

Has Mane’s absence had more impact than expected?

Is the management instability and potential takeover bid at the club affecting the morale and zeal of the team?

Liverpool not being active in the transfer window has been a very popular occurrence over the years, i think Klopp deserves owners that spends as much as Manchester city and the rest of the big boys in europe. hopefully, the new owners coming in would do better in that regard.

Real Madrid are confident they can land England international Jude Bellingham amid interest from Liverpool.

After an impressive World Cup, many clubs around Europe will be pondering making a move for Bellingham if he becomes available over the next year.

If Liverpool are able to beat Real Madrid to the signing of Bellingham, it will no doubt be a huge boost for Jurgen Klopp as his midfield seriously needs a quality addition.

But according to Marca (via TEAMtalk), Real Madrid believe they could secure the signing of Bellingham, with Liverpool unable to afford both Bellingham and Benfica midfielder Enzo Fernandez.

My take on this

It’s no secret that Liverpool need to inject fresh blood into their ageing midfield and we could see Klopp bringing new faces this winter. Fabinho hasn’t been on top form this season, Jordan Henderson is coming towards the end of his career while Thiago Alcantara is also 31-years-old so long-term replacements for the trio are needed.

Naby Keita, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and James Milner are all out of contract next summer, meaning Liverpool are going to need to overhaul their midfield department over the next couple of windows.

Jude Bellingham is Liverpool main top target but he’s not expected to leave Borussia Dortmund until the summer and they’ll face stiff competition for the £100m+ rated England international. Declan Rice is another player who’s been linked but again he won’t be leaving West Ham mid-season.

Brighton’s Moises Caicedo has emerged as a more realistic target for January. He’s enjoyed an excellent start to the season and knows Premier League football, so he could be an excellent addition who’d compete with Fabinho in the holding role. Stanislav Lobotka is another potential target after impressing at Napoli while Inter Milan’s Marcelo Brozovic has long been linked with a move to Anfield.

Liverpool will wait to try and sign Bellingham in the summer but they need reinforcements in January as well, so it will be interesting to see which midfielder they go for.

According to Fichajes, Liverpool have set their sights on Leicester City midfielder Maddison, with Football Insider reporting that he would cost in the region of ÂŁ60m.

If Maddison can reproduce his Leicester form with a new club, then ÂŁ60m could turn out to be one of the bargains of the century.

Maddison has managed eleven goals and assists in just 13 Premier League games this season, despite Leicester’s poor form overall.

There’s a good chance we see Maddison make a move in the near future, with the England international undoubtedly wanting to test himself in the Champions League and better his chances of playing regularly for his country.

A report from Argentina has provided huge news regarding Liverpool’s pursuit of Benfica and Argentina star Enzo Fernandez ahead of a potential move next summer.

According to La Capital, the Premier League giants have already signed a pre-agreement with Benfica in order to bring the midfielder to Anfield in 2023.

The report says that Manchester United and Manchester City are also interested in the Argentina international but it is the Reds who have made the first move and got the jump on their English rivals.

Liverpool are reportedly eyeing up the surprise transfer of Tottenham forward Son Heung-min as he weighs up the next step in his career.

The South Korea international has been at Spurs since 2015, scoring a hugely impressive 136 goals in 341 appearances for the north London club, jointly winning the Golden Boot alongside Liverpool’s Mohamed Salah last season.

According to reports in Germany, the Reds are among the top clubs on alert for the 30-year-old as he ponders his next move.

Sport1 also claim that Real Madrid and Paris Saint-Germain are keeping tabs on Son’s situation, and one imagines Tottenham would much rather sell him abroad than to a Premier League rival.

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp is reportedly pushing for the club to deliver the signing of Fiorentina midfielder Sofyan Amrabat following his superb performances at the 2022 World Cup.

Liverpool could do with strengthening in midfield right now, and Corriere dello Sport suggest that Klopp is one of the figures pushing hardest for the signing of Amrabat.

It’s surely going to be difficult for Fiorentina to keep the 26-year-old, but Liverpool are joined by the likes of Tottenham, Barcelona and Sevilla in this transfer battle.

After completing the signing of Dutch player and 23 year old Cody Gakpo from Ajax, there’s a lot of people asking for talented 17 year old Scottish international Ben Doak to leave the club.

Former Scotland international Alan Hutton believes Doak should be allowed to leave Liverpool in January to gain further first-team experience away from the club.

When asked if Doak should seek a loan move, Hutton told Football Insider: “Yes, definitely.

“I think Klopp sees him in the Liverpool starting line-up in the future, but maybe not at this moment in time because they are going to bring in different players from different positions to strengthen right now.

“Players like Doak are obviously the future. But the opportunity has to be there for them to go out and play football on loan.

“But it has to be the right club, it has to fit their style of football. I expect it to happen if the right club is found.”

Danny Murphy: Nat Phillips is not up to the standard required to be a Liverpool player.

That is the view of former player turned TalkSPORT pundit Danny Murphy, who believes Phillips is ‘way off’ the level needed to be a success at Anfield.

After being promoted through the academy ranks, the English defender, with the help of several seasons on loan at Stuttgart, found himself part of Jurgen Klopp’s first-team options – although the timing was key in the 25-year-old’s senior chances after Virgil Van Dijk picked up a season-ending injury, leaving the Reds desperately short at the back.

Nevertheless, Phillips, who made his debut in 2020, has since gone on to make just 28 club appearances with the Bolton-born defender’s latest run-of-games coming from another loan spell, this time with Bournemouth last season.

Now looking unlikely to reignite his Anfield career, Murphy has hinted that the Reds should look to part ways with Phillips.

“I think he’s way off, to be honest,” Murphy told TalkSPORT.

What are your thoughts on this?

Liverpool have been heavily linked with a move for the Borussia Dortmund midfielder Jude Bellingham.

According to reports, Liverpool have offered the player’s father a scouting job at the club and they are prepared to sign his brother Jobe Bellingham in a bid to lure the player to Anfield.

Liverpool will have to pay a premium to secure his services in the summer and it seems that they are willing to go the distance for him. Apparently, the player could cost around ÂŁ124 million.

Liverpool are currently monitoring the situation of Mason Mount and could pursue the Chelsea star next summer.

Currently, the hierarchy at Stamford Bridge is in talks with Mount to try and oversee a new and extended deal with the Chelsea academy graduate to try and keep him at the club long-term, however, both parties are yet to reach an agreement.

If talks continue to stall, Liverpool could ramp up their pursuit of the England international in a bid to bring him to Anfield when his contract expires in 2024, as per Jacob Steinberg.

Liverpool are reportedly ready to send young right-back Calvin Ramsay out on loan this January.

image

The Scottish starlet is being linked with Championship side Swansea City, and it remains to be seen if Jurgen Klopp will definitely green-light this move as he rates the player highly.

It could be useful for Ramsay to get the experience of first-team football elsewhere, but it’s also thought that Klopp also wouldn’t be against keeping him as a backup option in his squad.

It’s not been the easiest season at Anfield, so it could be a good time for hold on to as many players as possible and perhaps try giving some different names a run of games in the team.

On the other hand, it could be best to write this season off but allow someone like Ramsay to develop in time for next term.

Liverpool fans everywhere will be bitterly disappointed after Jurgen Klopp admitted that they will not sign any more players this transfer window :open_mouth:

Liverpool has performed far below their high standards this season and the Premier League table reflects this. They were expected to challenge for the title but they currently sit ninth, a whopping 21 points behind league leaders Arsenal.

Although they have been active in the January transfer window they have only brought in one player Cody Gakpo and fans feel like the club has ignored the most important position, midfield.

Klopp is in desperate need of an extra body in midfield but according to his latest press conference, they will have to do without one until at least the summer.

Liverpool were reportedly keen on strengthening their midfield during the January transfer window and Sofyan Amrabat was a target for the Reds.

According to a report from Daily Mirror, Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp held private talks with the 26-year-old’s representatives regarding a January move but the transfer never materialized.

Amrabat has been linked with clubs like Barcelona and Chelsea as well. However, the Italian club managed to hold down to their star player eventually and it remains to be seen whether Amrabat’s suitors are prepared to return for him at the end of the season.

“He could walk”- Football pundit gives bleak take on Jurgen Klopp’s future at Liverpool

image

The Reds are currently experiencing an abysmal season under Klopp’s watch as the Premier League giants are sat in tenth position in the table, are out of both domestic cups, and have Real Madrid in the next round of the Champions League.

This comes after a season where Liverpool went very close to winning every trophy possible but things have gone badly wrong this season, both on and off the pitch, and Fjortoft thinks the German boss could walk.

Although Liverpool are playing some of the worst football the club has seen right now, what Fjortoft says is correct, Klopp will never be sacked as he has been magnificent for the Merseyside club since taking over.

There are a lot of things going wrong at Anfield and with their rivals spending huge amounts of money, Klopp could think that the Liverpool job is becoming too difficult and could walk at the end of the season.
