Premier League Update
The coronavirus pandemic has led to the postponement of the Premier League season with nine games remaining, but as previous campaigns have shown, plenty can happen in the latter stages of the season…
If Clubs decide to vote for a void season, that would be just mean and unsportsmanlike.
If at all we come to a point where remaining season gets cancelled, then, Liverpool should be declared as Title winners. They have the biggest lead in points and Man City or Leicester City would need some kind of divine intervention to close the gap and contest for the title.
First and foremost, Liverpool will do everything in their power to stop the league being written off completely.
Klopp’s men are just two wins away from clinching the PL title after winning 27 times in 29 games.
Manchester United would also fight to keep the league running as they are just one spot away from the top four.
They are just 3 points away from the Champions League qualification spots. Should the season continue, United will try their best to finish in the top 4 after going 11 games unbeaten.
Leicester City would NOT back as they would miss out on Champions League football this season.
The Foxes are third in the table - 5 points clear of fourth-placed Chelsea and just 5 points away from Man City.
Wolves and Sheffield United would also prefer to continue their push for a top four spot.
However, there are plenty of teams that would benefit from the season being called off.
After a bad season and injury struck season, Jose Mourinho would be interested in voiding this season.
Karren Brady, the West Ham United vice-chair, has called for the English football season to be declared “null and void” in the wake of the coronavirus outbreak.
