Match Highlights: :ghana: Ghana 0-2 :uruguay: Uruguay

Uruguay were knocked out of the World Cup on goals scored despite beating Ghana 2-0 after South Korea’s dramatic win against Portugal.

It was all to play for heading into the final Group H matches and Uruguay thought they had done enough in the first half as Flamengo midfielder Giorgian de Arrascaeta scored twice in quick succession.

With just minutes to play at the Al Janoub Stadium, Uruguay remained second behind Portugal, but a late South Korea winner from Wolves’ Hee-Chan Hwang against Portugal saw them depose the South Americans on goals scored - netting four to Uruguay’s two.

Match Highlights: :serbia: Serbia 2-3 :switzerland: Switzerland

Switzerland booked their place in the World Cup knockout stages with a 3-2 victory, but only after suffering a huge scare from Serbia in an epic four-goal first-half.

Xherdan Shaqiri gave Switzerland the lead with a deflected shot in the 20th minute but Serbia, who had been the better team, equalised through a trademark Aleksandar Mitrovic header and then sensationally led when Dusan Vlahovic found the bottom corner which momentarily moved them second in Group G.

However, Switzerland hit-back through Breel Embolo in the final minute of a thrilling first-half and regained the lead early in the second period from a wonderful team goal, rounded off by Remo Freuler.

Match Highlights: :cameroon: Cameroon 1-0 :brazil: Brazil

Brazil were beaten by Cameroon but still topped Group G at World Cup 2022, while Cameroon bowed out despite Vincent Aboubakar’s late winner.

Cameroon needed a victory to keep alive their hopes of progress but, just as it looked as if they had run out of time, Aboubakar produced a stunning header two minutes into added time to break the deadlock. The African side needed Serbia to take points off Switzerland, but the Swiss held on for a 3-2 win to claim second place in the pool behind Brazil.
