Royal Challengers Bangalore have never emerged as champions of Indian Premier League in 12 seasons. Despite a star-studded batting line up they ended up at the bottom of the table last season. Virat Kohli has been always been among the top run-scorers in IPL but ultimately as a captain, he has failed to deliver to the fans and the owners.
RCB have made playoffs for consecutive three years between 2009-2011 where they even made the finals twice. They went on to again qualify for the playoffs in 2015 and 2016 but the last 2 seasons have been disappointing. Fans all over Karnataka have given their blood and soul to the franchise and have been behind them with the slogan #EeSalaCupNamde (This season the trophy is ours) but have eventually ended up heartbroken.
With the addition of Aaron Finch, Chris Morris and new coaching staff Mike Hesson and Simon Katich, do you think this is the season RCB can lift their maiden IPL title?
In my opinion the Royal Challengers will not lift the trophy this year as well but they might reach the playoffs. They have a young and promising team and for once they have a good balance between batsman and bowlers. However I do not think they will be able to co-ordinate very well as they are all from different countries and do not have much experience playing with their other teammates.
RCB have failed to reach the expectations of fans for 12 seasons and this time the team management and the captain need to act responsibly from the very first game.
This is the playing XI they should stick with: Aaron Finch, Devdutt Padikkal/Parthiv Patel, Virat Kohli, AB de Villiers, Gurkeerat Singh, Moeen Ali, Shivam Dube, Chris Morris, Washington Sundar/Shahbaz Ahmed, Navdeep Saini, Yuzvendra Chahal.
Sticking with balanced squad from the very first game will bring confidence to youngsters and they will just not be dependent on Virat or AB to win games for the them. Death bowling is a serious concern and if they sort of these issues they can win the title this season.
