After keeping a clean sheet in seven successive UEFA Champions League matches between the group stages and the Last 16 last season, Manchester City have since kept just one clean sheet across their last 11 matches in the competition, failing to record a single shut-out during this campaign.
Among Portuguese players, only Manchester United’s Cristiano Ronaldo (6 goals) has been directly involved in more UEFA Champions League goals this season than Sporting’s Pote (5 - 4 goals, 1 assist) and Manchester City’s João Cancelo (5 - 2 goals, 3 assists).
Let’s see how it goes this season, but for me away goals rules still the best. There is need for a home team not to concede goals, that make the game more interesting. It also help to reduce waste of strength because there are other competitions these players are playing in. Many matches will be going into extra time like 2:1, 1:0. Again 3:2, 1:0. Etc. it’s a waste of time in the game, also consider teams injury players. So away goal rules really make sense
Benzema: “Playing against Mbappé will be exciting. Messi? He’s an extraordinary player. Neymar is a top player, I don’t know if he’s fully ready but it’s great for them that he’s back.”
