Gennaro Gattuso - Keeps on giving!

Gennaro Gattuso had terminated his Milan contract by mutual consent, handing back roughly 90% of the salary he was owed.

Then, he gave up more to help ensure Napoli employees received full pay during Covid-19.

Now, reportedly he is ready for cutting his own wages to make the Victor Osimhen deal happen. He is willing to take a hit to enable Napoli to land the Nigerian Striker.

Gennaro Gattuso refused to accept a £4.8m contract payout after resignation in 2018-19 season, instead insisting that the money should go towards paying the salaries of the backroom staff who lost their jobs following his resignation. He had finished the 2017/18 campaign in sixth position, improving to fifth place this season, and missing out on Champions League qualification by a point. As Milan failed to get back into CL Gattuso resigned, with him making just one request before leaving his post. Had Gattuso been sacked, Milan would have to pay him the €11m remaining in his contract, He instead chose to step aside voluntarily, renouncing the payment and reportedly requesting to use the money to pay the two-year salaries of all of his backroom staff.

The Super Eagles striker has been Gattuso’s No 1 transfer target. Victor Osimhen has been his prime focus since he took over as Napoli Manager in December 2019 from Carlo Ancelotti. He scored 18 goals in 31 games in all competitions for Lille in his debut season and meeting with Gatusso and Napoli President Aurelio De Laurentiis, Osimhen is said to be close to signing for Napoli.
