NBA 2023-24 Regular season schedule: Champion Nuggets take on Lakers in opener

The NBA Denver Nuggets will kick off the 2023-24 NBA schedule Oct. 24 in a showdown against the Los Angeles Lakers, creating an early rematch of last season’s Western Conference Finals.

The regular season is scheduled to conclude April 14.

The 2024 play-in tournament will run from April 16-19, with the playoffs beginning April 20. Game 1 of the 2024 NBA Finals will start June 6.

India’s teen chess prodigy Rameshbabu Praggnanandhaa arrived home to celebration Wednesday, with media jostling to catch a glimpse of the newly minted star who faced international No.1 Magnus Carlsen in the Chess World Cup final.

Popularly known as “Pragg”, the 18-year-old is the youngest player to reach a chess World Cup final, held last week in the Azerbaijani capital Baku.

US Open 2023, Day Four Results: Alcaraz, Jabeur move to third round; Murray exits

Defending champion and top seed Alcaraz had no problems in defeating South Africa’s Lloyd Harris in straight sets.

Andy Murray, who had won the title in 2012, went down 3-6, 4-6, 1-6 to 19th-seeded Bulgarian Grigor Dimitrov.

For Jabeur, last year’s runner-up in women’s singles, it was a tough battle against Czech Republic’s Linda Noskova but the Tunisian managed to emerge victorious 7-6)7), 4-6, 6-3.

US Open 2023, Day Eight Results: Alcaraz, Sabalenka through to quarterfinals; Jabeur exits

Defending men’s winner and top seed Carlos Alcaraz beat Italy’s Matteo Arnaldi in straight sets to reach his third straight quarterfinal in New York.

Jabeur, last year’s women’s runner-up, went down in straight sets to Qinwen Zheng. Reigning Australian Open champion and second seed Aryna Sabalenka moved to the last-eight stage with a 6-1, 6-3 victory over Daria Kasatkina.

US Open 2023, Day 12 Results

Novak Djokovic and Daniil Medvedev set up the men’s singles final at the US Open in New York on Friday.

Second seed and three-time winner Djokovic defeated local favourite Ben Shelton 6-3, 6-2, 7-6(4) to reach his 10th final at Flushing Meadows.

Third seed and 2021 winner Medvedev knocked out defending champion Carlos Alcaraz 7-6(3), 6-1, 3-6, 6-3 in the other semifinal.
