Arsenal are set to play host to Olympiacos on Thursday at the Emirates Stadium for the second leg of the Round of 16 of the UEFA Europa League.
Arsenal come into this game on the back of a 2-1 win over Jose Mourinho’s Tottenham Hotspur on Sunday in the English Premier League. Goals from young Norwegian midfielder Martin Odegaard and French striker Alexandre Lacazette ensured victory for Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal. Argentine forward Erik Lamela scored the consolation goal for Tottenham Hotspur, and was sent off in the second-half.
Olympiacos, on the other hand, beat Larissa 3-1 in the Super League Greece on Sunday. Goals from Egyptian striker Ahmed Hassan, Greek right-back Thanasis Androutsos and experienced Morocco international Youssef El-Arabi sealed the deal for Pedro Martins’ Olympiacos. Slovenian forward Marko Nunic scored the sole goal for Larissa.
Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang will be hoping to return after being left out of the side for Sunday’s North London derby win due to disciplinary reasons, although Bukayo Saka is unlikely to feature after coming off injured in that clash.
Avraam Papadopolous and Ruben Semedo are both ruled out, while Marios Vrousai and Ousseynou Ba are doubtful.
Arsenal have progressed from five of their six UEFA Europa League knockout ties where they won the first leg, the only failure coming last season against Olympiakos, who turned around a 0-1 first leg home defeat to progress on away goals via a 2-1 second-leg victory.
Olympiakos have played 18 away games against English opposition in European competition, winning twice and drawing once while losing 15 times - those two wins both came against Arsenal (September 2015 and February 2020).
Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has scored in each of his last three home matches in Europe for Arsenal, though one of these games was held at the Karaiskakis Stadium in Greece - the last Arsenal player to score in four consecutive home European matches (excluding qualifiers) was Robin van Persie in September 2009, with the fourth game in his run coming against Olympiakos.

Haunting the Gunners
11 - Arsenal have now conceded in each of their last 11 matches across all competitions – their longest run without a clean sheet since a stretch of 14 matches without a shut out between October – December 2019. Nervy.
Dinamo Zagreb now go 2-0 up against Spurs.
