In an interview with Zeit, Swiss tennis legend Roger Federer admits the thought of retirement has been playing on his mind.

“Retirement is getting closer & I will miss tennis so much.”

Federer has taken a year-long hiatus from tennis as he underwent two knee surgeries. Presently, he is recovering from his surgeries and very soon he will start his fitness training.

The Swiss maestro said that although he has been pondering on the thought of retirement, he wants to give himself another shot at playing on the ATP Tour.

Federer, who will turn 39 in August this year has continued to defy his age. He is ranked No 4 in the world and holds the record for winning 20 Grand Slam Championships.

When Federer decides to hang his racquet, it will be a big loss to tennis fans. Do you agree?

Federer doesn’t have an Olympic Singles Gold so he might be looking at that final glory before he retires. He is out of the 2020 season due to knee surgery and currently, he is rehabbing. But he wants to compete with the best till he is around and retire on a winning note.

A record 20 Grand Slams to his name, there is no doubt Roger Federer is one of the all-time greats of the sport tennis.Federer is still going strong and is playing at the highest level. His current rankings are a minor proof to his dominance in the sport even at this age.
He is currently the fourth-ranked player in the world. However, that could have been under threat had games not been suspended due to the coronavirus. At the start of the year, Federer was ranked third. However, a not so satisfying display at the season-opening Australian Open.
