East Bengal 1-1 Kerala Blasters: Scott Neville scores late to earn Red and Golds a point

Scott Neville scored a late equaliser to earn East Bengal a point against Kerala Blasters in an Indian Super League (ISL) clash on Friday at the Tilak Maidan.

Jordan Murray gave Kerala the lead in the 64th minute from Albino Gomes’ long ball. The Australian beat Rana Gharami in pace before finding the back of the net. But drama unfolded in the final few seconds of the match when Neville equalised with a clinical header from Bright Enobakhare’s pinpoint corner to seal a point for the Kolkata club.

SCEB 1-1 KBFC

SCEB was really scattered in this match. Scot navil after wasting a lot of match finally contributed in this game. But today Scot navil was in good touch.

The goal that SCEB has conceived was a complete mistake from defense. Rana gharami was completely out of position. Other wise a GK can’t assist a goal in regularity.

However a miss kick in the last minute from rahul KP results a corner, from which BEN10( bright) delivered a swift floater for Scot to finish.

Well the equation is getting tougher for both the team match by match in terms of top 4 slot.

Kerala Blasters Head Coach Kibu Vicuna After the Match

"It was like the other match against East Bengal. That time we scored and this time unfortunately they did. We conceded the corner and we conceded. We are disappointed because we worked hard to get the three points but didn’t get it.

"We are trying to improve the results. In the beginning, we conceded too many goals playing from behind so we are trying to avoid those passes and play from the side. I think with the players we have with Gary and Jordan and we created chances.

SC East Bengal Head Coach Robbie Fowler After the Game

"I think we were losing the game and to get the equaliser, it keeps us rolling. Not a good goal to concede, I don’t know if it was offside, will have to see. Aaron’s chance, he should have scored probably. We’ll take the point.

"He’s been incredible since he came in, we’ve got players who are playing well and so we can’t drop them, which is why Aaron came in late. He is a handful, he has the strength, gets his body on the line. He’s got every attribute of being a great striker.

“Ajay Chhetri is obviously new, we’ve got him on loan. He’s a talented player, he can get the ball moving. He is a young lad and we have to look at him in the next game but we’ve got to play him well.”

KeralaBlasters had a possession of 35.4% in the game against SC Eastbengal, their least since their game against Bengaluru FC in February 2019 (29.4%). Shoddy.

@Jay

Actually both this team has different issues. KBFC has severe finishing problem. They spent 10cr. for Garry Hooper. I can bet you he wouldn’t even score 10 goals in this season. Murry is finishing now a days but he misses more.

Where as SCEB has tremendous problem in defense. If you have seen today’s match you will see Scot navil was good, but he use to get out of the defense line very often to venture in the mid field. That creates a vacuum in the defensive organization, rana gharami or narayan das didn’t have that ability to overcome that. Again this team has a problem about identifying indian footballer.
They played milan sing over ajay chetry and harmanprit over rafique in the starting 11 which is not correct. Anyone who follows indian football can tell you this.

If both the team address this flaws they can qualify but seriously speaking it’s very difficult.

For the second time in Hero ISL, late drama ensued between SC East Bengal and Kerala Blasters as they played out a hard-fought 1-1 draw. After a goalless first half, Jordan Murray broke the deadlock, courtesy of an assist from goalkeeper, Albino Gomes. Kibu Vicuna’s side looked to be on the verge of securing back to back wins but Scott Neville netted an injury time header to secure a point for the side in Red and Gold.

Preview: Mumbai City FC vs Hyderabad FC

With an eye on the AFC Champions League qualification, Sergio Lobera’s Mumbai City FC take on Hyderabad FC in the Indian Super League ISL at the Goa Medical College Ground in Bambolim.

Hyderabad FC and Mumbai City FC have played a similar style of football so far in the season. Both sides like to keep the ball and build up from the midfield.

Mumbai City FC are top of the table and seem to be the favorites to win the league stage. Hyderabad FC, meanwhile, are placed third.

The Islanders have notched up 25 points from 10 games while the Nizams have registered 15 points from the same number of fixtures.

HFC 0-0 MCFC [45:00 min]

When the game started everyone was thinking MCFC is the favourite. But after watching the 1st half I must say that HFC is looking great.

But two players are really being missed Halicharan and Bumos. Hugo bumos may have some niggles. So he may or may not come. But halicharan will surely come in place of Liston.

If we are playing against MCFC what does we know. They will keep the possession. They will build up by small passes and some final sudden move to finish.

So what will i do. I will place man between the players to block the passes. Half game will be done there. Secondly if we don’t allow MCFC to pass in the final third as they are keeping the possession obviously their defence will engage themselves in build up play which will create spaces. The chance that chianese got (but missed) is a result of that.

Football is a game of spaces. HFC is creating and blocking that in both sectors. Briliant play. But in 2nd half players will be much more tired to maintain this fluidity. Let’s see.

My call is HFC. Fingers crossed.
