Chelsea are reportedly keen on signing Wilfried Zaha (£80m price tag) from Crystal Palace when the transfer window reopens at the beginning of January. Chelsea identified Zaha as the alternative target instead of Jadon Sancho as they are not able to reach an agreement with Borussia Dortmund.

Barcelona defeated Inter Milan after 60 years on their home ground. Barca won 2-1 at Inter Milan that knocked the Italian club out of the competition and allowed Borussia Dortmund to go through.

In a match where Lionel Messi didn’t play and Luis Suarez started on the bench, Inter had no business losing. Inter had eight shots on goal and numerous chances to win the game, yet couldn’t find answers in the final third. It’s a blow to Conte in his first season with the club, as this was a team expected to move on due to recent form. In the end, it couldn’t beat a Barca team without a number of its key players, leaving Lautaro Martinez and Romelu Lukaku to remember all of the missed chances that could have been the difference as 16 other teams advance for Europe’s top prize.

Today in 1935, Arsenal’s Ted Drake made top-flight history by scoring seven goals in a single game in the Gunners 7-1 win at Villa Park against Aston Villa. Remarkable.
