Former England international and Fulham legend George Cohen has passed away at the age of 83.
Cohen was the vice-captain of the England squad that managed to win the World Cup in 1966 and he was considered as one of the best right-backs in English football at the time.

The defender spent his club career at Fulham, racking up over 450 appearances. Back in 2016, the Premier League club unveiled a statue of Cohen outside Craven Cottage and he was awarded MBE for services in 2000 as well.
The news will come as a disappointing blow to the London club and its fans.
The Premier League side took to social media to share their reaction to the news and former Premier League players like Gary Lineker have also expressed their sadness on social media.

Polish referee Szymon Marciniak rose to the occasion, with his performance in Argentina’s win over France regarded as one of the best the World Cup finals have ever seen, with his decision to penalise Marcus Thuram for a dive in the box with just a few minutes left of normal time widely praised by journalists and former referees.
Despite the praise he received for his handling of the match, Marciniak has since come out to admit that he feels that he made one mistake during the final.
“I interrupted the French counter-attack after a bad tackle by Marcos Acuna.
“I was afraid that the fouled player wanted to unwind, and I read it wrong because nothing happened, and you could give an advantage and then come back with a card. It’s hard. In a game like this, I take such a mistake in the dark. The important thing is that there were no big mistakes.”
A superb refereeing performance from the Pole to go along with arguably the best World Cup final the game has ever seen rounded off a memorable World Cup, as attention now turns to 2026 when the USA, Mexico and Canada will host the 23rd edition of the tournament.
