Salah misses for Reds from penalty spot for the 1st time in more than 4 years

Deadly Mohamed Salah suffered penalty despair as Leicester held Liverpool in the first half of their Premier League clash on Tuesday – with goalkeeper Kasper Schmeichel the hero as the Reds’ long run of perfect penalties abruptly ended.

Inspired Schmeichel stopped Salah’s spot kick after 15 minutes at the King Power Stadium, watched with relief as the runaway top scorer in the top flight headed the rebound against the crossbar and then produced another astonishing save to thwart the striker again just after the half-hour mark.

Former hotshot Alan Shearer felt Salah’s pain as he watched the prolific hitman fail from 12 yards for the first time since 28 October 2017, when he misfired during a 3-0 home win over Huddersfield.

De Gea issues rallying cry after Man Utd’s disappointing Newcastle draw

David de Gea has issued a rallying cry to his Manchester United team-mates, urging them to do better after Monday night’s disappointing draw at Newcastle United.

The Red Devils were held to a 1-1 affair at St. James’ Park - but in truth were fortunate to leave the north east with a point.

De Gea had to be at his best to deny Newcastle victory - a result that sees United’s hopes of a top-four finish out of their hands.
The Red Devils sit seventh in the Premier League table - seven points behind fourth-placed Arsenal, although they do have two games in hand.

Cristiano Ronaldo’s statue unveiled in Goa

A statue of Cristiano Ronaldo has been unveiled in Calangute, Goa to promote football and inspire more youth in taking up the sport. The weight of the statue is around 410 kgs.

The Manchester United player is immensely popular in the state as Goa is one of the bastions of Portuguese support in India.

"This is for the first time that the statue of Cristiano Ronaldo has come up in India. This is nothing but to inspire our youth. If you want to take football to another level then this is what young boys and girls will look forward to, taking selfies and looking at the statue and getting inspired to play,” Goa minister Michael Lobo told ANI.

Nasri recalls he once insulted Mancini ‘by all names’ during dispute at Man City

Samir Nasri has revealed he once ripped into Roberto Mancini and ‘insulted him by all names’ during an explosive dispute between the pair at Manchester City.

Mancini signed Nasri for City back in the summer of 2011, with the club forking out £25million to prise him away from Arsenal.

The France international enjoyed great success at the Etihad, registering 27 goals and 40 assists in 176 appearances while winning two Premier League titles.

The first of those titles came under Mancini, when he racked up 30 league appearances to help City become champions for the first time in 44 years.
