La Liga president launches complaints over Man City & PSG

La Liga president Javier Tebas has acknowledged that he has submitted a complaint in relation to Manchester City’s signing of Erling Haaland and that he intends to do so in relation to Kylian Mbappe’s contract extension at Paris Saint-Germain.

The two players were among the top summer objectives of La Liga’s biggest clubs, Real Madrid and Barcelona, but both were unable to compete with the financial resources that allowed Haaland to move to Manchester and Mbappe to remain in Paris.

Tebas threatened to denounce PSG to UEFA, the French government, and the European Union shortly after Mbappe’s contract extension, voicing his concerns over the Ligue 1 club’s financial transactions.

That official complaint has yet to emerge, and it appears that this is due to Tebas’ initial focus on protesting about Haaland.

He addressed a press conference, “I’m not standing up for Madrid over the Mbappe issue; I’m standing up for European football.” “It’s more risky than the Super League to consent to these operations outside the market when those clubs are.”
