NETHERLANDS EXTEND REMARKABLE WORLD CUP UNBEATEN STREAK
The Netherlands continue to strengthen one of the most remarkable records in international football.
With their emphatic 5-1 victory over Sweden at the 2026 FIFA World Cup, Oranje extended a run that has now lasted more than sixteen years without suffering a defeat in regular time at the tournament.
The last time the Dutch lost a World Cup match within 90 minutes was the 2010 Final against Spain in Johannesburg. Since then, the Netherlands have gone through the 2014, 2022 and 2026 editions without losing a single World Cup game in normal time.
During that period, Oranje reached a World Cup semi-final, a quarter-final and have once again emerged as contenders on the biggest stage. Their only tournament exits came after penalty shootouts against Argentina, meaning no nation has been able to beat the Dutch within regulation time for more than a decade and a half.
Ronald Koemanโs side arrived at the 2026 World Cup unbeaten in qualifying and continue to build momentum as they chase the one major trophy that has always escaped them.
