The series is set up very nicely. With each team out performing the other in one match each third test is set to become quiet humdinger!

Both your hypothesis could be true! 
Maybe the first test was a warmup match for England. Also, in the first Test, Stokes was the captain filling in for Joe Root and from 2nd test Root resumed his role. I wonder if change in captaincy made a difference!?
Would still love to see West Indies put up their best tomorrow!

Broad will go into the final day of the Test series today against West Indies requiring one more wicket to become just the seventh man - and fourth seamer - in history to claim 500 Test wickets.

England has beaten West Indies by 269 runs and win the series by 2-1. Stuart Broad has been amazing in the match with his brilliant performance scoring 62(45) in first innings and 6/31 & 4/36 in 1st and 2nd innings respectively.

Stuart Broad takes his 500th wicket and England win the series 2-1!
Broad has become just the 7th bowler in the history of the game to take 500 Test wickets when he trapped West Indies batsman Kraigg Brathwaite leg before wicket.
Broad joins the Elite Club of Muralitharan, Warne, Kumble, Anderson, McGrath, and Walsh.
Broad gets the final wicket. England (369 & 226/2 decl) beat West Indies (197 & 129) by 269 runs in Manchester to win three-Test series 2-1.
