Manchester United are stepping up their search for a new full-back, a source has told ESPN, with Tyrell Malacia set for a further spell on the sidelines.

There had been hope that he would be able to return to training this summer, but the 24-year-old, who last played for United in May 2023, was omitted from the squad which travelled to Los Angeles on Wednesday as he continues his recovery at Carrington.

Manchester United have promised to consult fans before selling the naming rights to their stadium, but the club have admitted it is an option under consideration.

The work could cost as much as £2bn and United’s COO has told fans that “all possible funding options” will be looked at, including selling the naming rights to a new stadium and entering a deal which saw Barcelona’s stadium renamed Spotify Camp Nou.

Sources told ESPN that Jadon Sancho was offered to PSG among other clubs and the player is being considered as he suits the profile of player they are looking for following Kylian Mbappé’s departure.

The sources added that reports linking Bruno Fernandes with a move to PSG were overstated, and noted that it would take a huge offer for United to allow their club captain to leave.
