Brazilian international Arthur Melo who looked like a promising successor of Andrés Iniesta was sold to Juventus from Barcelona after the midfielder agreed a five-year contract with the Italian champions. The transfer included a twin negotiation between the clubs which involves Bosnia midfielder Miralem Pjanic and a fee of 70 million euros.
The swap deal between both the clubs has only benefited the Italians since they have received a 23-year-old with immense potential in replacement for Miralem Pjanic who is 30-years-old and has entered the final few years of his career. Is this another foolishness by the board at Barcelona to let go off a promising talent for a career ending player? Does this even make sense?
Congratulations to Juventus who gets a midfielder for the next ten years. Barcelona gets a 30 year old player that’s having an awful season. Another midfielder at the end of his career, for what?

It is certainly foolish to trust this board as this makes it another example of the club’s inconsistent transfer policy over the years. By letting go off crucial players and finding flops like Coutinho and Griezmann the last years of Messi is being wasted.

Barcelona need to raise $ 43m by June 30 to avoid ending the financial year in negative. Barcelona’s dismal transfers over recent years have doomed them to sell one of their most promising assets just for the need to comply with Financial Fair Play (FPP) Rules.
Since the departure of Neymar in the summer of 2017, Barcelona’s transfer policy has been haphazard, reckless, hurried and impatient, one that is without any long-term outlook and just focusses on signing superstars. The club will have a difficult time once their God Messi retires
